Drumrolls😂Drumrolls because I’m here to share my thoughts on this Anikulapo movie written by Shola Dada and directed by Kunle Afolayan but first of all I need to share a quick story. So my Netflix subscription expired a while ago and I didn’t renew the subscription because I didn’t have so much money to be spending on Netflix subscription. Everyone posted screenshots of the Anikulapo’s movie art cover and I just felt really left out and so I decided to renew my subscription (LOL). Was I pissed at the end of the movie? Yes😂😭

So let’s dive right into this thing 🛩️

I really loved the fine work on the setting, dances, festival, clay molding, fabric making style, the makeup and every in between. No doubt, the production team did a great job with that.

Is it just me or did anyone noticed Anikulapo was a 100% local language movie? I mean, not a single English word was spoken and I loved it🥰

What I still can’t understand is the role of Awarun (Sola Sobowale). I knew she helped Saro a bit but was having sex with young men really necessary? What did having sex with Saro really do in the movie? Was that really necessary? All I can think of is “She was a sugar mummy in the land”

Women!!!Best in loving🤝because Arolake (Bimbo Ademoye) was in possession of the power to raise the dead but decided to give it out to Saro (Kunle Remi). It was out of LOVE and respect(I mean, In Africa or Nigeria rather, wives are taught to decrease for their husbands to increase. Wives can never have the upper hand) 

A woman who loves you would definitely do anything for you-typical Arolake

Men!!!! Fear them😂😂😂because how did Saro move from being jealous of the fact that his sugar mummy had other men to loving Arolake so much to having so many wives and to wanting to marry the Princess of Ojumo😂Only you!!! 

But wait oh, how do they say this thing again? “Trouble Dey sleep yanga Dey go wake am Abi yanga Dey sleep trouble Dey go wake am”. Saro was beginning to blow at this his fabric making thing when Arolake went to him and started committing sin with this young man😂😭. Saro sef! He cannot see woman and close his eyes? He didn’t even refuse Awarun (the sugar mummy) when she went to him to commit sin 😂and that was the same way he didn’t refuse Arolake. 

Men sha🤧later when they realize the nonsense they’ve been doing, they’ll say the devil used them. We’re sorry oh the devil didn’t use you, the devil is living inside of you😂😭 (got this line from someone)

If you believe in KARMA then that was what caught both Saro and Arolake. Arolake left the king, her husband and went after Saro. I get the fact that Arolake was married to the king at a very young age and she didn’t really love the king but….

You see that Saro!!! He was prideful, was a betrayer, he was selfish and everything in between. Saro had a second chance at life, how was he that careless??🤧
